Fire Detection and Suppression
VESDA Deployment
Docklands Data Centre uses the fire industry’s most advanced aspirating smoke detection equipment – Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA). VESDA aspirating smoke detectors provide the very early warning that is critical in a clean room; they are extremely sensitive because they continuously draw air through a network of pipes back to the detector, and offer the most time possible to respond to a threat.
FM-200 Fire Suppressant
Detecting a fire is one thing, but it is meaningless if you can’t extinguish it before it causes damage. We’ve opted to utilise FM-200 throughout our data centre; FM-200 is a clean, colourless, and ecologically friendly fire suppression agent. It is harmless for human exposure while also being electrically non-conductive.
With this product, flames are effectively extinguished chiefly through heat absorption, with no residue left on equipment, resulting in minimal downtime after a fire. It is effective against A, B and electrical fires and leaves no residue after discharge, thus minimising equipment downtime after a fire – making it well suited for a space filled with your expensive electrical equipment.
Last Resort
In the event of an uncontrollable fire or otherwise cataclysmic incident, we’re situated less than a mile away from Millwall Fire station – a well-resourced base covering Canary Wharf and trained on large-scale electrical fires.
Air Conditioning
To ensure N+1 redundancy, we have installed a combination of DX Air Conditioning Systems from Liebert and Uniflair room air chillers from Schneider Electric within our main data hall, offering 12x 60Kw cooling capacity. Our secondary data hall is similarly equipped with incredibly powerful chillers from DenoHappel, offering 8x 50kW cooling capacity.
We have installed electronic expansion that facilitates automatic corrections based on fluctuating weather conditions to provide both efficiency and greener solutions.
